Season 2022………
With pre season kicking off in November and the boys back on the track for 2022, we sit down with new coaches Jack Brauman and Ron Pilgrim, as well as Football Operations Manager Zack Hickleton, to talk the Tigers approach to this years season.
What are your plans for pre season?
We are hoping to get the playing group fit, bonding well together and building a game style to be able to ensure we can compete with the best teams in the competition.
What are your focuses for season 2022?
The biggest focus will be player engagement and development. We have a lot of under 19s coming into the senior ranks and a lot of players that have plenty of potential that we would like to see grow and develop throughout the year. Player engagement is something that gives players ownership of their year and their performance, we want them to drive themselves and ask us as coaches to give them feedback to achieve that.
Who are you most excited to see on the field in 2022 and why?
Kieran Fulton is having a massive preseason, coming off an interrupted and short season with Bannockburn last year, he is training the house down and will be a player that we are expecting to take his game to a whole new level 2022. Tristan Battaglia is also a classy player that had an injury interrupted 2021 and we are expecting him to be back at his best this year with a solid preseason.
Who are the big ins and outs for the season?
Can’t say too much about recruitment at this stage, but watch this space.
We are saddened to see Michael Stevenson leave the club to take up a role at Lara, but also excited for him, in what will be a great opportunity. Tom Parsons will be retiring after playing an integral role in our backline since 2016 and before that with Anakie and Lara and Lachlan Stewart is heading back to his home town of Warracknabeal.
