Jack takes out Neville Whitley award in tight race
The Neville Whitley Medal has been shared for the first time in 24 years, with our new coach for 2022, Jack Brauman, sharing the award with Bell Post Hill’s Dylan Witney for the GDFL’s highest individual honour.
It is only the third tie for the GDFL’s best-and-fairest since 1944, and the first since 1997 when Thomson great Tim Gardiner shared the second of his Whitley medals with Werribee Centrals’ Barry Delaney.
Jack finished one vote clear of a group of five players, becoming the first Bannockburn player to win the Whitley Medal, and the first Tiger to claim a league best-and-fairest since late great Alan Woodman claimed the GDFL Division 2 best-and-fairest in 1989.
Matt James has clinched another top 3 spot for the third season running after winning in 2018, and coming runner-up in 2019. A consistent powerhouse for the tiger family - congratulations Matt.
And a big nod to Jack, Daniel Ladgrove and Dan Measures for making the 2021 GDFL Team of the Year. These 3 display significant craftsmanship every Saturday and the tiger army is proud to see your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
In our own club best and fairest, Jack again took out the Craig Blackman award, with Dan Measures and Hayden Spiller as runners ups.
