Round 1 wrap up

AND WE ARE BACK!!!! Round 1 saw The Tigers venture out to Geelong West. It was going to be a tough assignment for our Footballers with rumours Geelong West were ready to fire. Our Seniors had it tough most of the day. The game could have gone either way, but with a lack luster 3rd quarter, it was going to be a challenge. Unfortunately the boys fell short by 3 points. The reserves fared better, winning by 19. Lots of buzz around with the young group of lads taking the field for season 2022.

It was a different story for our netballers, with a clean sweep in all grades, D Grade being the closest score line for the day. Fielding new look teams, the ladies took the court by storm. Big welcome to our new recruits for Football and Netball for season 2022.

In junior news, our U18 played the curtain raiser to Seniors/Reserves. It was close until Geelong West skipped away in the 3rd and held the lead till the end.

The 1st game of the season at home was played by U9 Bannockburn Gold who defeated arch rivals Inverleigh by 41 points. The skills were amazing. Our other U9’s team didn’t fair as well, losing to a strong South Barwon team by 51pts. U10 boys made light work of North Stars 94 to 0 at home.

We are fielding 2 U12 boys teams this season. Bannockburn Gold winning comfortably by 47pts, whilst we don’t have a score for the other team. U14 boys had a close game at half time with Grovedale but just didn’t have the legs and lost by 13pts. Our U16 Gold came up against a strong Torquay side losing by 25 points, whilst U16 Black made lightwork of Lara.

In girls footy our U12 played a strong St Mary’s losing by 11 goals. U15 had a spirited game all the way with 2 minutes to go when they hit the lead, only to get a quick goal against them. Ball was in our forward 50, but just could not get the goal losing by 3 points.

Junior Netball had byes in U19 & in U15 as Geelong West were not able to field sides. A last-minute forfeit for our U15 girls saw points go into their bank. Our U13 girls imposed a crushing victory winning by 35 goals. On Tuesday night our U11 Tigers team played a highly skilled game, running over Geelong West 28 - 0. Our other U11 Black side, this game was for many their first game for the Tigers, was played in great spirit, going down to Newtown Chilwell 17-1.

Congrats to all new players and first goal scorers in Netball and Football
