Round 2 wrap up

Round 2 brought out the sun against Corio at home. This week our footballers got back on track and Netballers to play stacked Corio teams. Our Netballers had great wins in A (which normally Corio stack this side) & C grade, with D Grade again being the closest score line for the day, against a stacked opponent. Our B Grade went down unexpectedly.

Both our Seniors & Reserves had impressive wins against a well under strength Corio. It was an ordinary start for the Seniors with many missed opportunities in front of goals, but they started the 2nd quarter in the right mindset and never looked back.

The Reserves started very well and played ok in the 2nd & 3rd quarters but ran away playing an exciting brand of footy in the last to show to themselves they can play the way the coaches wanted.

For our Junior Netball had byes in U19 & in U17 as Corio were not able to field sides. Our U15 GDFL started well for Netball winning by 10 goals. Our U15 Black (AFL Barwon) team unfortunately lost to the Grubbers by 27 goals. Our U13 GDFL girls had a good victory winning by 10 goals. U13 Gold were too strong for Torquay winning by 11 and U13 Black held on to beat Barwon Heads by 1 goal. U11 Tigers held on to win over a spirited Ammos by 4 goals whilst U11 Black unfortunately lost to St Albans.

Our U18 lads got their 1st win for new coach Joe Fama beating East Geelong comfortably. U16 Black curtain raised for the day at home beating the Dragons by 63 points. U16 Gold put on a clinic at Drysdale winning by 99 pts. Our U10 had a bye this week and to cap off our Saturday games we unfortunately had losses with our u9’s with U9 Gold come agonisingly short losing by 1 point and U9 Black losing by 14 pts to South Barwon. Both our U12 sides had tough losses to Queenscliff & Torquay respectively. Sunday saw our U12 girls come agonisingly close again to lose by only 5 pts at home. Our U14 boys came up against a tall & strong Barwon Heads team to loss by 82 points and Sunday was capped off by our U15 girls storming away with an emphatic victory over Torquay at Torquay by 88 points under new coach Tyler Murphy. Well done to all teams. No games this week as we have a bye round for Easter.
