Round 4 wrap up

Round 4 saw us venture out to meet the Anakie Roos. Netball always seems to be a tough contest while football can throw up surprises, and on this occasion, it did not disappoint.

Our Netballers in A grade had hard work pay off. It was close all day, in windy conditions winning by 1 pt. Our B grade bounced back from last week but were only able to manage a draw. This is unusual as B grade is very strong. Our C & D grade made light work of the Roos winning by 12pts and 39 pts respectively.

Our Reserves did not start well, with a luck luster 1st quarter, it was an uphill battle. The Roos were cleaner and wanted the ball more and managed to hold on by 8pts. Not the desired result. Assuming some changes to be made. Does anyone have a photo of president getting falconed and knocked unconscious in the 2’s??

This week we celebrated the 100th senior games of Brayden Vicars and Tom Bath. Both Tom and Brayden have played their way through the years levels at BFNC and are integral players within our senior group today.

The first 10 mins of the Seniors game wasn’t exactly what we were expecting. The Roos came out firing, with quick movement of the ball and were very competitive. Unfortunately for them, it was sort lived and the rest of the game becoming a training drill, with us smashing the undermanned Roos by 135pts. Strong performances in front of goal by Keiran Fulton and Brayden Vicars in his 100th senior game. And also nice to see Luke Bowdern sneak up for a cheeky goal once in a while. Great bounce back by the team after last weeks slender loss to Inverleigh

Our U18 boys were back post a bye and played Anglesea at Anglesea. Always a physical contest with our lads coming away with a great win by 48pts. Our U16 Gold team are continuing to win with a very solid performance of St Barwon by 31pts. Whilst it was a tough day at the office for our U16 Black team who came up against a very strong outfit in Newtown going down by 44pts. U15g played at home ready to bounce back from last week. Leading at ½ time by 1pt they could not hold on and lost by 19pts to Drysdale. U12g had a red hot go at an inform Surf Coast Suns team, eventually losing by 42pts. Our U14 boys also played at home and had a lot of the ball in the last but just couldn’t convert losing by 8pts over Anglesea. Surf Coast Suns seem to be the teams to bet. They again had our measure in U12’s with gold losing by 17pts. U12 Black came up against St Mary’s. So great positives to be taken out but not the choccies losing by 40pts. Banno U10’s came up against a strong Armstrong Creek losing by 47pts whilst our U9’s had mixed results with Banno Black losing by 57pts and Gold winning by 87pts. Our U19 Netball girls were too strong winning by 23 goals over Anakie. Our U17 girls also had a strong showing winning by 16 goals. Our U15 girls had a bye in GDFL and a forfeit in Banno Black. Our u13’s crushed Anakie by 38 goals whilst we had forfeits in U13 gold and Black. U11 had a win and a loss, with Gild winning by 9 over Modda and Banno Black losing to Torquay by 10 goals.

Some great results for football and netball and shock losses for both. Everyone can be proud no matter the score line as by all reports coming into me, coaches were really pleased with where we are at round 4.

This week we welcome Winchelsea Blues to Victoria Park. Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday
